Slip

Slide, tangled tongue,
this is what you wanted.
You fail.
Cipher this - What jewel is hardened blood?
What jewel is offered to you?
What sort of sedition
are you now? Are you?
What oil will move you
past the putsch?
Every stud of your surface
is the upraised pike of
a rebel mob, knotting
against, my soul,
the things you have
desired to pass along.
You tongue, you muscle
of unrivaled nerve,
Speak!
